ADVERBS


ADVERBS – a word that modifies or describes an action. They may also
describe an ADJECTIVE or another ADVERB.


ADVERBS tell how, where or when an action takes place. They often end in “-ly” but not always.


Ex. – Suddenly, the students understood.(When did they understand?)
Mark drew the lines evenly. (How did he draw the lines?)


Some examples of words that end in –ly that are NOT ADVERBS are:
curly - sly - burly

Intensifying adverbs modify adjectives/adverbs - not, very, too, really
