The Giver Anthem
Using our 31 word Pledge of Allegiance as a model, Create an “Anthem” for the Community based on their values and beliefs. Use specific examples from the “rules” and Community expectations to write a “Pledge” that each Community student would sing at the beginning of their day. Using synonyms, antonyms and precision of language change the words in bold below:
“I pledge allegiance to the flag, of the United States of America.
And to the republic, for which it stands, one nation under God.
Indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
In groups of two:
*Write a rough draft of your 31 word “Pledge” The only words you can reuse are: pronouns, conjunctions, articles and prepositions (replace bold)
*Proofread, type and share on Gdocs - with names and heading - double space
*Rehearse and prepare to present (recite) to the class
