Open Response Question Options: We will respond to one of the following questions tomorrow.

1.  Theme can be defined as the message or lesson about life the author intends for his or her audience.  Identify a major theme from Roll of Thunder and defend your choice using a minimum of two examples. 

2.  Secondary characters explain or describe primary characters.  Pick a secondary character from the novel and tell how this character helps to explain a primary character.  Use examples from the novel to support your ideas. 

3. Motivation is an important part of creating realistic characters.  Pick a character from Roll of Thunder and explain the reasons that motivate this character to act.  Use examples to explain this character's actions and motivation.
