- Plan what you are going to write, make notes or outlines and carry out any other pre-writing activities – in other words ~ Brainstorm
- Webs /bullets/columns/listsRead the question - Identify your task!
- Circle key direction verbs
- Underline the important information – Identify your task.
- Restate Rewrite in your own words what the question is asking (THESIS STATEMENT)
- Record your plan (BRAINSTORM)
- You MUST make a plan of your writing
- More information in your brainstorm = detailed writing
- Can you use ~ who, what, where, when, why, how
- Answer the question
- First draft Draft 1: Get your ideas out.
- Write your Draft 1 from your brainstorm
- No “talking sentences” “I’m writing about…” DO NOT SAY “Let me tell you about…”
- Introduce your essay in an interesting way ~ catch the reader’s attention -Grabber – write in first person.
- Description/emotion/stronger vocabulary are always needed*sparkle*
- Read over in a 1” voice ~ multiple times throughout the writing process
- Final composition – limited to four pages
- Before you copy over ~ add more ~ then add more again
- Each time we revised in class, we focused on something different (stronger vocabulary/complex sentences/quote use)
- Is this essay something that you are proud of ~ is it your best work?
- Reminders
- “I can’t be with you when you take the test…” ~ picture me as a little person (guardian or devil) sitting on your shoulder, watching over you.
- Your writing should be like a finger print. Be yourself! Take risks and be creative. Use your sense of humor!
- If there is time left on the clock – continue to paint the picture using your words.
- You are in control of your writing and success!
